In the words of Abhishek, “It all started with a simple idea – to design fresh high-quality items at nominal price range. After dropping out of college in January 2015, I alongwith my friend Vishi Porwal started working on Indian Threads, we found ourselves brainstorming about launching our own brand centered around our love for design and fashion. What started as an online webstore for our passion and entrepreneurial experiment quickly grew into much more than just selling a few shirts.”
Indian Threads didn't start with a formal business plan as the founders had absolutely no background in fashion and design. “Rather than following the “traditional” model of starting a business, we just tried to apply common sense and research to figure things out as they came up. Whereas the design aspect came very instinctively, we completely surrendered to that passion and we soon found that the best way of learning is by doing.”
“Over a period of 12 months we continued to build Indian Threads by working round the clock and weekends refining designs, learning the process, making mistakes, building a team of craftsmen, organizing logistics, and you name it. Our dream of starting a brand was no longer just a dream. It was what fueled us and this is what keeps us moving. We also had to make sure everything was ethically managed. We did Door-to-Door to more than 100's of Small Vendors to Big Multi Brand Outlets to market our product.”
Today, we are selling over 6000 Shirts every month through our 120 vendors and retail outlets from all over Madhya Pradesh. We have also started adding the vendors and retail outlets from Rajasthan and Maharashtra, last month and plan to sell over 10,000 Shirts every month by Mar, 17.”

Men's wear is a complex market with the presence of formidable global brands; how Indian Threads plan to make inroads in the sprawling market?
Simple, Cost Cutting. We believe that fashion can be made in an inexpensive way where creativity & quality is valued equally. We use high quality fabric. We spare no effort or expense at detailing and fine-tuning of each garment. By selling directly to the consumer, online and retailers, offline we cut the huge share of middle men at 3 levels. And, it's a huge profit of margin at every level. Secondly, as a Start Up, we plan to survive, thus keep a thin line to profit which cuts our cost to more than half the price.
As we all know, customer is always the smarter one. Now, when we are providing high quality product at optimum price. Why won't they buy them.
Trends in fashion are changing by the word go. How the Indian Threads would cope up with this challenge?
Our deal is for Common Men's wardrobe, which is never going to change for next decade. A few light changes in trends do come over the time period, even we are always excited to serve them something new. Although our style is magnetic, from classics to trending, we have a vast product range.
What is the vision of the company?
We are planning to expand in different product type by 2017. We will be launching Indian Threads T-Shirts by January, 17 and by the end of the year, we plan to manufacture Men's bottom wears, Ethnic wears, Suits, Blazers & accessories. We aim to open our own Brand Store all over India in next 5 years. And expand the Indian Brand by exporting to different countries.
Our vision is to empower our members to feel like a million bucks without spending a million bucks. We want everyone to stay fresh, for less and keep you on the forefront of trending fashion – we aim to continuously redefine everyday style for Men in India.
